Antoinette Winters

 Artist Statement:
I approach drawing and painting as a means of investigation. Images and text - drawn, painted, stenciled, or collaged - are explored in a process of addition and deletion until a composition of relative simplicity is attained. Throughout the process, the tension of line, the happenstance of marks, and the density of surface become variables to control or to release. The restraint of the final image belies the complexity of its making.
