Artist Statement/Biography:
Book Artist and Printer Johnny Carrera is proud to be showing the first copies of his Pictorial Webster’s at this year’s Open Studios. Comprised of over 4000 engravings from the original wood engravings and electrotypes used in the 19^th Century Webster Dictionaries, these books have something for everyone inside. Visitors to open studios have watched the progression of this project since 1999.Johnny Carrera will also be displaying some of his money collages from his solo show “The Pursuit of Happiness.” These are meticulously crafted pieces made entirely from pieces of actual U.S. Currency.
