Michelle Arnold Paine River Street Artists Painting
My work seeks to represent the spirit of space, peopled or vacant, interior or exterior, architectural or natural. During the three years I spent living and working in Italy for an American study abroad program, I was steeped in the Renaissance masters and the intimacy and beauty of daily Italian life. Images from the years I spent there flow in and out of my work. My subjects - landscape, architecture, and the figure - embody my struggle to know the place in which I dwell on the earth and under the sky, a space of convergence.
